Essential Healing is a philosophy formulated by Dr. Kalaba centered on 4 aspects that need to be addressed for you to heal on the foundational level.

Ketogenic Eating

Ketogenic eating at its core is a major shift from eating to satisfy hunger and/or suppress your emotions—eating to feel good—to simply eating to fuel and nourish your body, and for many, losing weight.  How simple can you keep it?

Keto Weight Loss

 

The goal of ketogenic eating is to change the way the body burns food for fuel, specifically by turning healthy fats into ketone bodies that then fuel your cells. In the Standard American Diet, fuel that is used to power every process in your body—from healing to thinking to running a marathon—is sourced from the large amount of carbohydrates and sugars that people consume. This means that glucose is the main source of cellular energy in the body.  Many people ask, then, how keto works?

When eating for ketosis, the body adapts to burning fat, creating ketones for fuel instead of glucose.  Ketogenic eating involves consuming high amounts of healthy fats, moderate amounts of protein, and low levels of high-antioxidant carbohydrates, such as green, leafy vegetables and berries. It is a gluten-free, sugar-free (no added sugars) way of eating.  Some people are even dairy free and vegan or vegetarian and still eat a ketogenic diet.

As you can imagine, this type of eating has been used to help address many ailments in the body, including obesity, hormone imbalances, childhood epilepsy, Alzheimer’s, arthritis & chronic inflammation, fibromyalgia, insulin sensitivity, chronic fatigue syndrome, migraines, MS, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, and much more.

About Dr. Kalaba

My name is Dr. Lee Ann Kalaba, and I am super excited about the possibility of supporting you in jump-starting your health at Vital Life Chiropractic & Wellness.

First, I have had my own pretty miraculous healing journey. Not only have I had 2 severely herniated discs since my early 20s, I have also been managing chronic Epstein Barr virus for over 20 years. Like many of you, I have been told it’s all in my head.

I found chiropractic and within just a few weeks, I began to heal. Along with that, I started sleeping better, my allergies became less and less. I was even able to manage stress better, having fewer and eventually no panic attacks. More importantly, I realized that healing happened from the inside.  I didn’t choose chiropractic for what it did for my back. I chose chiropractic for what it did for my being.

This is one reason I’m so passionate about natural health and have been for over 20 years. I’m on a mission to help transform the lives of my practice members, using improved health as a catalyst so they can then go out into the world and do something they never thought possible.

On top of this, I have used ketogenic eating to lose 140lbs over the last 5+ years! So, I really do understand what patients are going through and how to help them.

We can’t be our best selves and maximize our impact in our lives, with our families, on the job, or out in the world when we are experiencing chronic inflammation, fatigue, and dis-ease. Therefore, our health should be our #1 priority.  This is why I am honored to be your Tucson chiropractor.
